Dear Friends and Prayer Partners
We want to say again a huge thank you for your support and prayers. We serve a faithful God and it’s wonderful to see the fruit of all our prayers in Ireland, Huntingdon and elsewhere.
One of the areas which we feel the Lord has been calling Arise Ministries is to join with others in equipping the saints for His Kingdom purposes, and so we are organising two events. The first is on 27th April at Cornerstone Christian bookshop in St Neots, an evening entitled “Can a nation be healed?”.
The second is a mini conference on "The Promise of the Holy Spirit" to be held Pentecost weekend, the 10th and 11th of June, at Huntingdon Methodist Church. The speaker is Rev Paul Wilson, chair of MET (Methodist Evangelicals Together) with whom we are jointly hosting the weekend. My son Jonathan will be leading worship at both. Posters advertising these events are attached (hopefully!).
During the Civil War, Cromwell said many times that what he was doing he did in the name of Christ and led by the Holy Ghost. By saying this, it looks as if the Holy Spirit is responsible for the pain and bloodshed in the land which isn’t true and has made many people suspicious of the Holy Spirit. We recognise too that the fruit of the Spirit; love, joy, peace, patience etc, wasn’t very evident during this time. This is why we feel it is important to share His love together and celebrate the work of the Holy Spirit that was quenched during the time of Cromwell and reverse the curse that has been over our town.
For many years I have felt God speaking to me of two celebrations, one in Armagh and the other in Huntingdon. At Pentecost in 2010 we shared with our Irish brothers and sisters in Armagh, and this year we will be in Huntingdon.
We would love you to join us if you are able!
Prayer points
1) April 9th-14th - Shirley, Isla, Katie, Val and Jonathan along with many young people and church friends are off to Spring Harvest. Please pray for safe travelling and that it will be faith-building and refreshing for all.
2) 27th April - Shirley is speaking on “Can a Nation be healed?” at 7.30pm at Cornerstone Christian Bookshop in St Neots. Pray too for Paul Shinners, the Managing Director of Cornerstone that God will bless this venture. He has opened a cafe and bookshop, with a healing room set aside for ministry. Many have already been touched and healed there.
3) Pentecost weekend. Pray for all the arrangements and preparations as we are finding there is a lot to do. CAN YOU HELP? If you live in Huntingdonshire, would you be prepared to be our contact person in your church and help advertise the event? Please let us know if you can help.
4) Pray for our families as we balance our time. Pray for protection over them, and us. Pray especially for Rev Paul Wilson as he prepares to come and for safe travel.
5) Pray this will be a time of unity and coming together across the body of Christ. Pray that many will be stirred to come and receive all that God has for them. We recognise that many are hungry and thirsty and God longs to meet their need. Please pray that nothing will stop anyone from coming and that all finances will be met, especially for airfares for our Irish brothers and sisters.
6) Churches Together in Huntingdon are holding an open air service on the market square on Pentecost Sunday. Pray as in Joel 2:28 that God will pour out His Holy Spirit on all these events.
“If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray, and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from Heaven, and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14
Blessings in Christ
